It looks like these seven Senior Citizens were denied their First Amendment right to PETITION THE GOVERNMENT!

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Maybe they had a look at Obama’s  Health Care Chart that Will Scare YOU to DEATH?

This chart reflects President Obama’s health policy adviser’s argument that health care resources should be allocated to the young adult population, and limited in the older and youngest populations.   In other words  – if your too young or too old you are NOT GOING TO RECEIVE  all the care you may NEED!

Who wrote this?  Why Obama’s special advisor to the Office of Management and Budget for health policy, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel.  If the name sounds familiar, that is because he is the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.  Dr. Emanuel is the chair of Bio-Ethics at the NIH as well as an Oncologist.  He co-authored a paper earlier this year titled, Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions. (free registration may be required to view) . 

The paper examines a number of methods of allocating scarce resources, and the authors introduce their own hybrid model called the “COMPLETE LIVES SYSTEM.” 

When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated.

While the authors recognize that their  system has flaws:

The complete lives system discriminates against older people

but….and there’s always a but….

Accepting the complete lives system for health care as a whole would be premature. We must first reduce waste and increase spending.

And they even bring up on, their own, the NAZI like nature of this notion!

Ultimately, the complete lives system does not create “classes of Untermenschen whose lives and well being are deemed not worth spending money on”, but rather empowers us to decide fairly whom to save when genuine scarcity makes saving everyone impossible. [emphasis mine]

In other words – once we’ve squeezed out waste, fraud, abuse and eliminated the profit from the system – we’ll still have more demand for services than we can afford.  And WHEN THAT HAPPENS – we need a SYSTEM to allocate the resources. 

While this is an interesting intellectual exercise at best, it should SCARE THE LIVING HELL out of anyone who plans on living past 60 years of age.  In essence, only “productive workers” would be eligible to receive the maximum amount of care.  Once your use to society is limited, or, in the case of children, a significant investment has not yet been made in you,YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN.  

Dr. Emanuel has also has published a book  – “Guaranteed Access Health Care” (at least the title makes it clear where he stand on this issue!)

In a nutshell, his health care system would be universal mandatory care, funded by a Value Added Tax (VAT).  Its not clear how Dr. Emanuel reconciles the conflicting notions of selling the population on  ”Guaranteed Access Health Care” and his recommendation for allocating scarce medical resources.  The American people are being sold down the river by the shiny object of “FREE” Health Care.  Don’t listen America – NOTHING IS FREE – and Universal Government Funded Care is a placing your health care treatment in the hands of faceless, nameless, and more importantly, unaccountable bureaucrats.

I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw Glenn Beck’s Common Sense right next to Obama’s Dreams from My Father at a Borders Book store at the airport.

The clerk at the store had no comment as to which was selling more briskly.  We know of course – and hopefully this placement will get a few Obama lovers to inspect Common Sense!

If you haven’t bought Common Sense – you MUST BUY IT – and be sure to read BOTH Glenn’s Common Sense AND Thomas Paine’s Common Sense (both are in the book).  I had never read the original and it is truly inspiring. You can read this book over a couple of days – and it will change your perspective on what must happen in our country.  AWAKE MY SLEEPING NATION!   READ THIS BOOK!   Then give it to a friend and wake them up!

President Obama may have gotten his own “Lesson” if  Sgt. Crowley delivered the contents of a letter from his colleague Sgt. Leon Lashley, who was a black officer on scene at the arrest of Professor Gates.   Contrast Sgt. Lashleys words below with the lame  statement from Professor Gates.  You always can tell who the troublemaker is any political pickle - it’s the person who is “hopeful that we can all move on.”  Yes, that is a quote from Professor Gates’ statement.

“One of the major problems stemming from the events of July 16 is that I, [am] now known as the ‘black sergeant’, have had my image plastered all over the internet, television and newspapers,  Subsequently, I have also become known, at least to some, as an ‘Uncle Tom’. 

I’m forced to ponder the notion that as a result of speaking the truth and coming to the defense of a friend and colleague, who just happened to be white, that I have somehow betrayed my heritage.

Please convey my concerns to the President that Mr. Gates’ actions may may have caused grave and potentially irreparable harm to the struggle for racial harmony in this country and perhaps throughout the world.

In closing, I would simply like to ask that Mr. Gates deeply reflect on the events that have unfolded since July 16 and ask himself the following questions:

What can I do to help heal the rift caused by some of my actions?

What responsibility do I bear for what occurred on July 16, 2009?

Is there anything I can do to mitigate the damage done to the reputations of two respected Police Officers?

Obama is actually concerned with the opinion of the American public.  That’s a good thing!  It means we can make the idiots in Washington still pay attention to us!  In some deep dark recess of their souls they are worried – very worries.  Stay strong people!

This was not exactly the “Lesson Learned” that Obama expected to come of of his Beer Detente.  But it’s still a good lesson!

In one of my favorite episodes of “Star Trek,” Captain Kirk is mistaken for a god by inhabitants of a planet of Native Americans (it’s a long story). The illusion works for Kirk until a jealous shaman cuts Kirk’s hand, revealing that the divine being is just a man after all. “Behold! A god who bleeds!” the shaman mocks, exposing Kirk as a fraud to the rest of the tribe.

It may sound like a stretch — and, let’s be fair, it is — but I keep thinking of that episode when I look Barack Obama’s poll numbers these days.

He’s bleeding on every front. The latest Pew survey shows that only 38 percent of Americans approve of his handling of the economy. In the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, fewer than half of respondents (48 percent) say Obama can be trusted to keep his word. Gallup has his approval rating at a new low of 52 percent, and Rasmussen has it below 50 percent for the first time.

This week I received yet ANOTHER email from our President touting his health care scheme.  The contents of the letter are below.  I can’t figure out why he doesn’t address the letter to Dear Comrade, but I digress….

Obama has realized that the American people are on to him.  Most people already have insurance.  They understand that it costs a lot of money to have insurance, and if we are to provide insurance t0 47 Million MORE people that is has to COST MOR, not less!  People are asking themselves -wait a sec – this things could really SCREW ME.  So Obama has taken to a new tact.  GIVE PEOPLE MORE FREE STUFF!    Of course, this will result in MORE cost shifting, but irony of all ironies, Obama is shifting the cost to the young adults who were so excited about his candidacy and helped propel him into the White House.  They don’t normally vote, so he knows he can stiff them without serious consequences at the polls.  What is not in the letter is the additional throwaway to the elderly:  that insurance companies can only charge twice the rate to a old person than the do a young person.  Guess who gets screwed on that one?  You got it - the young people. 

The only good news I see in this new approach is that he is terrified of not achieving some sort of health care overhaul. That was his campaign promise and he has set himself up for failure not being an option.  Thus he is beginning to move to a middle ground which will be much more palatable to the Republicans.  Remember, – the Republicans cannot afford to look like they didn’t GIVE YOU something, so they WILL go along – the question is go along with what?  Take the August recess to talk with your elected officials – or risk them giving away everything in September.

Letter is below with my comments inserted

Dear Friend,

If you’re like most Americans, there’s nothing more important to you about health care than peace of mind.

Given the status quo, that’s understandable. The current system often denies insurance due to pre-existing conditions, charges steep out-of-pocket fees – and sometimes isn’t there at all if you become seriously ill.

It’s time to fix our unsustainable insurance system and create a new foundation for health care security. That means guaranteeing your health care security and stability with eight basic consumer protections:

No discrimination for pre-existing conditions  [Cost shift to healthy, younger adults]
No exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles or co-pays [why should you pay a lot?  Lower out of pockets = higher insurance premiums and more cost shifting]
No cost-sharing for preventive care[You shouldn't be responsible for your own care - this isn't insurance now - its Pre-Paid Medical care, which = higher premiums]
No dropping of coverage if you become seriously ill [They can't do that now - this is a sounds good line...]
No gender discrimination [ditto - unless you mean that women live longer than men but should pay the same rates... but isn't that discriminatory?]
No annual or lifetime caps on coverage [not necessarily bad, but it should be my choice as to what kind of coverage I need - this will result in higher premiums of course]
Extended coverage for young adults [this is great - parents will now be responsible for their kids - up to 26 years old?  I've got an idea - how about the young adults get their own freaking policy!]
Guaranteed insurance renewal so long as premiums are paid [sounds good - but will result in higher premiums as insurers seek to cover their risk]

Over the next month there is going to be an avalanche of misinformation and scare tactics from those seeking to perpetuate the status quo. [counting Mr. Obama's own scare tactics?]  But we know the cost of doing nothing is too high. Health care costs will double over the next decade, millions more will become uninsured, and state and local governments will go bankrupt. [wait a sec....isn't that a SCARE TACTIC?]

It’s time to act and reform health insurance, drive down costs and guarantee the health care security and stability of every American family. You can help by putting these core principles of reform in the hands of your friends, your family, and the rest of your social network.

President Obama’s plans for a conciliatory beer party between Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates and James Crowley, the Cambridge policeman who arrested him, went off the rails this evening when Vice President Joe Biden unceremoniously crashed the event.

Mr. Biden, whom onlookers said was clearly inebriated, burst into the Oval Office just as the three men were getting the party underway.

Furious that the party had started without him, Mr. Biden reached into a tub of cold beers and smashed a bottle over the edge of Mr. Obama’s desk.

A glimpse into the future of Government controlled markets – they exist at the point of the Government’s Gun – companies must obey – and the Producers have their lifeblood sucked out by the Looters.  From Atlas Shrugged:

Philippines imposes price control on some medicines (Reuters)

“Price control may deliver some short-term benefits but the long-term negative consequences, not only on the pharmaceutical industry but in other industries, must be considered,” Reiner Gloor, an industry spokesman, said in a statement.

“If price adjustments do not result in market expansion, then affected companies will have to study options to remain viable.”

The pharmaceutical industry is estimated to lose about 7-10 billion pesos ($146-$208 million) a year in sales, making it hard for smaller drug firms that produce and market three or four products to survive, Gloor said previously.

Rasmussen is now reporting a MINUS 12 approval rating!  Gee – how could Dear Leader, the One, the bringer of Hope and Change be perceived so unfavorably by a majority of likely voters?  Its worse than the -12 rating that it even looks.  While 51% of voters Disapprove,  40% STRONGLY disapprove.   The more people see this man in action , the less and less the like what he is doing to this country.  Rasmussen is also reporting that 49% of likely voters believe AMERICA’S BEST DAYS ARE BEHIND IT!   

Obama has brought the change just not the hope!

What should be even MORE WORRISOME for the Obama crows is that Rasmussen’s polls are weighted to DEMOCRATS!

Currently, the baseline targets for the adult population are 39.0% Democrats, 32.5% Republicans, and 28.5% unaffiliated

The best he can hope for now is to lay low at his Mansion on Martha’s Vineyard during the August Congressional recess.

The media is reporting Dear Leader is going to down a Bud Light. I’m sure that polled well.  Professor Gates avoids any homebrewed suds as he downs a Red Stripe from Jamaica.  Officer Crowley is reported to like the Microbrew Blue Moon. 

Obama should have gone for the Billy Beer since his poll numbers and leadership style are so similar to that of President Carter.

In today’s Rasmussen Presidential Appoval survey, President Obama is showing a -11% approval rating among likely voters.  That is the difference between strongly approve (29%) and strongly disapprove (-40%).  the country remains split of his performance with 49% approving and 50% disapproving.  It is worth noting that of the 50% who disapprove, 80% of them STRONGLY disapprove.  There is no wiggle room here.  Rasmussen also reports that 76% of people view him as “liberal”. with only 48% seeing him as “Very Liberal.”   The question for Mr. Obama is what will happen to his approval when the other half of the respondents recognize him as “Very Liberal.”  This is up 20 points since his election.  Is it possible that people were that blind to his agenda?  Yes, but they ARE WAKING from their slumber. 

Much of his drop is likely attributable to his dismal ad lib comments on the Harvard Professor Gates arrest.

Rasmussen also reports an astonishing  split in how whites/blacks viewed this President’s Cambridge remarks.   How can we ever all get along when we cannot all agree on the notion of BLIND JUSTICE and assuming most people are GOOD.  We have a black President – institutional racism is near dead – the generation that lived with and created  Jim Crow laws are dying out – what more evidence do Afircan Americans need to see the path to prosperity is open?

Seventy-one percent (71%) of African-Americans say the president’s response was good or excellent, a view shared by just 22% of white Americans.

At the other extreme, 53% of white voters gave the president’s response a poor grade. Only five percent (5%) of black Americans offered such a negative response.

Seventy-three percent (73%) of African-American voters believe that most blacks receive unfair treatment from the police. Just 21% of white voters share that view

Thirty-two percent (32%) of black voters say that most policemen are racist, but 52% disagree.

Among white voters, just seven percent (7%) believe that most policemen are racist and 71% say they are not.

Liberals, by a two-to-one margin believe that most African-Americans are treated unfairly by the police. A solid plurality of unaffiliateds and a majority of Republicans disagree.

Obama Health Care – was the movie Logan’s Run prescient?

In the 1970′s sci-fi flick, Logan’s Run, citizens live in an underground complex that due to overpopulation problems stemming from some sort of non-specific disaster (nuclear war?) required them to be killed by the time they reached 30 in a ritual called “Carousel”.  The citizens were led to believe that this Carousel process would allow them renewal but no one ever survived.   A government sponsored culling of the herd if you will.  We are now seeing government sponsored suicide for cancer victims in Oregon (Health Care Rationing Is ALREADY Here in the USA) - and who knows where our national health care legislation may take us.  They say truth is stranger than fiction.  The movie purported to be set in the 23rd Century – its starting to seem it was two centuries off.
