BBC admits to treating Islam with kid gloves

By Cassandra Effect, March 3, 2012 12:27 pm

Combine the following:
-Soft bigotry of low expectations
-Fear of terroristic threats
-Confusing the religion Islam with being a “race”

And you get self inflicted Dhimmi status in western media

“Christianity gets less sensitive treatment than other religions admits BBC chief
He suggested other faiths have a ‘very close identity with ethnic minorities’
But added that religion as a whole should never receive the same ‘protection and sensitivity’ in the law as race

Revelation; BBC director-general Mark Thompson has claimed Christianity is treated with far less sensitivity than other religions because it is ¿pretty broad shouldered
BBC director-general Mark Thompson has claimed Christianity is treated with far less sensitivity than other religions because it is ‘pretty broad shouldered’.
He suggested other faiths have a ‘very close identity with ethnic minorities’, and were therefore covered in a far more careful way by broadcasters.
But he also revealed that producers had to consider the possibilities of ‘violent threats’ instead of polite complaints if they pushed ahead with certain types of satire.
Mr Thompson said: ‘Without question, “I complain in the strongest possible terms”, is different from, “I complain in the strongest possible terms and I am loading my AK47 as I write”. This definitely raises the stakes.’
But he added

More elevated TSA security

By Cassandra Effect, June 8, 2010 11:27 am

Travelling again today through a different airport than yesterday, and
was patted down going thru the x ray machine. TSA agents were patting
down every couple of people going through. No profiling or behavior
pattern alerts. Just hoping for a stupid, random chance to catch a
jihadist. Ridiculous.

We still can’t face the reality that it’s middle eastern young men who
are the greatest risk. Not a 90 year old grandpa from Minnesota. Yes
I saw him get frisked.

TSA on alert today

By Cassandra Effect, June 7, 2010 12:35 pm

Traveling today through two US airports and had TSA agents checking
IDs while people were boarding flights.

Might be part of a new routine, maybe heightened security due to the
gaza flotilla, or maybe they know something is up?

Top 3 Most Inspiring Quotes of the Year

By Cassandra Effect, December 22, 2009 5:44 pm

Since its the end of the year, I thought I would share the quote that most inspired or impressed me:

#1)  “Two More, two more!!”

What Fort Hood survivors shouted at Sgt. Kimberly Munley and Sgt. Mark Todd.  Todd thought they meant two more shooters, but the soldiers wanted to make sure that Jihadist Major Hasan was DEAD.    Our servicemen and women know the Jihadist danger that we are up against.

#2) “George Washington is rolling over in his grave right now!”

Katy Abram trashing Arlen Specter at a town hall meeting this summer.

#3)  “As a small business owner, I could use competition (in insurance choices) …Competition Makes Me Better!”

Catherine Bragg owning California Rep Lynn Woolsey at a town hall meeting

PS: I will not bother repeating the lists of gaffes and other “stupidly” statement – no sense giving the opposition free press.

Pope calls for One World Government!

By Cassandra Effect, July 8, 2009 11:30 pm

Now thats weird -  can’t say I saw that one coming!  Reported in the AFP:

The Pope yesterday condemned the “grave deviations and failures” of capitalism that have been exposed by the financial crisis, calling on the eve of a summit of rich nations for a “true world political authority” to oversee a return to ethical values.

Pope Benedict’s emphasis on the need for “forms of redistribution of wealth” is likely to stir debate at the summit, which will be attended by 39 heads of government and international institutions, over the failure of rich nations to honour their aid commitments.

Sadly, the Pontiff rails heavily against capitalism, denouncing Globalization, Outsourcing and Short term Profits as all very bad things.  The reality is globalization has helped lift up poor countries by introducing trade that they did not have, and lowers consumer costs in the countries importing the goods.  A Win/Win.

The Guardian has a brief summary of other topics from the Encyclical HERE

Notably, he also calls out a number of tyrannical regimes especially China in issues including Sex (no government should be forcing mandatory contraception) and Secularism (governmental promotion of atheism or repression of religion)

Initially, I was not entirely clear how a conversation between Obama and Pope Benedict XVI will go since Obama is pushing abortion, stem cell research and contraception, all of which are not pro-church topics.   But the socialistic topics in the new Encyclic should provide stirring conversation between the two of them.

Biden gives OK for Israel to hit Iran nuke sites

By Cassandra Effect, July 5, 2009 3:55 pm

Obama leaves the country and Biden’s mouth is running - no idea if this is for real or just another Joe Biden “moment?”

On a deeper conspiratorial level, having Biden give the ok, leaves Obama’s hands clean, and lets Israel do the world’s dirty work, after which the Obama and the other Arab Countries will most certainly condem their unilateral action.

From the New York Times:

George Stephanopoulos, the program’s host, asked: “But just to be clear here, if the Israelis decide Iran is an existential threat, they have to take out the nuclear program, militarily the United States will not stand in the way?”

And Mr. Biden replied: “Look, we cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do when they make a determination — if they make a determination — that they’re existentially threatened and their survival is threatened by another country.”

Iranian Election Illegitimate, declare defiant clerics

The people cannot be oppressed forever by the tyrant!

From the NY Times:

A statement by the group, the Association of Researchers and Teachers of Qum, represents a significant, if so far symbolic, setback for the government and especially the authority of the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose word is supposed to be final. The government has tried to paint the opposition and its top presidential candidate, Mir Hussein Moussavi, as criminals and traitors, a strategy that now becomes more difficult.

“This crack in the clerical establishment, and the fact they are siding with the people and Moussavi, in my view is the most historic crack in the 30 years of the Islamic republic,” said Abbas Milani, director of the Iranian Studies Program at Stanford University. “Remember, they are going against an election verified and sanctified by Khamenei.”

Perhaps more threatening to the supreme leader, the committee called on other clerics to join the fight against the government’s refusal to adequately reconsider the charges of voter fraud. The committee invoked powerful imagery, comparing the 20 protesters killed during demonstrations with the martyrs who died in the early days of the revolution and the war with Iraq, asking other clerics to save what it called “the dignity that was earned with the blood of tens of thousands of martyrs.”
